Artificial intelligence (AI) is no longer a technology of the distant future. It has already become part of our daily lives. Students use AI to study, businesses use it to improve efficiency, and hospitals use it to help doctors provide better medical care. As AI continues to develop, however, one question is being asked around the world: Will AI replace human workers?

                          In fact, AI is already changing the way many people work. In the IT industry, AI can help write computer code, detect errors, and assist software developers. In accounting, it can organize financial records, calculate taxes, and analyze large amounts of data in a short time. Because AI performs repetitive tasks quickly and accurately, companies are becoming more efficient. At the same time, many people worry that some jobs may disappear as AI takes over routine work.

                        This change can already be seen in major companies. Microsoft announced large-scale workforce reductions in 2025, and other global technology companies such as Meta, Google, and Amazon have also reorganized their businesses while investing heavily in AI. In South Korea, many companies are introducing AI into their workplaces to improve productivity and change the way employees work. Experts believe these changes show that businesses are adapting to a new AI-driven environment.

                         However, AI is not expected to eliminate jobs forever. According to the World Economic Forum's Future of Jobs Report 2025, AI and automation may replace about 92 million jobs by 2030. At the same time, they are expected to create around 170 million new jobs, resulting in a net increase in employment. New careers, including AI engineers, data analysts, cybersecurity specialists, robotics engineers, and AI ethics experts, are expected to grow as technology continues to advance. Rather than simply destroying jobs, AI is transforming the structure of the labor market.

                           For this reason, experts say the most important skill is not competing against AI but learning how to work with it. Human abilities such as creativity, critical thinking, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving remain difficult for AI to replace. These skills will become even more valuable in the future. The real question is not, "Will AI take my job?" Instead, we should ask, "How can I prepare to work with AI?" Technology will continue to evolve, but the future will be shaped by people who are willing to learn, adapt, and use AI wisely. Rather than fearing AI, we should see it as a tool that can create new opportunities when combined with human creativity and responsibility.
