Have you ever been to Gongji Stream?

Well, I have been to Gongji Stream. I saw pretty streams and rode a swan boat. They were so fun!

But the stream is getting dirty because...

First, the water stops flowing. Gongjicheon flows down to meet Lake Uiam. When the water level at Uiam Dam stays high, Gongji Stream's water gets blocked and cannot flow. Because the water just sits there, dirt and sediment build up at the bottom, making the stream dirty.

Second, warmer weather brings smelly algae. In spring, brown algae stuck to the rocks floats up to the surface. As it rots, it smells bad and ruins the view. In summer heatwaves, rising water temperatures cause green algae to spread rapidly.

But recently, an otter was seen in Gongji Stream.

According to KBS News, otters only live in clean and fresh water. So, it means Gongji Stream is getting cleaner and cleaner.

If we want otters to live in Gongji Stream, we should:

1. Turn off the lights when you don't use them.

2. Use less plastic bottles and use tumblers.

3. Recycle trash.

Following these three steps for just one day stops tons of plastic and toxic runoff from entering rivers, cools the water to prevent algae, and immediately makes Gongji Stream cleaner and safer for otters.

From now on, let's always remember these three steps and save the otters in danger.
