Youths participating in the '2026 Gyeonggi Youth Ladder' departed for British Columbia, Canada on the 19th to begin their overseas training.

The 'Gyeonggi Youth Ladder' is an overseas training program that provides economically vulnerable youth with opportunities to experience foreign cultures and supports their career exploration and self-directed growth. It is operated by Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Institute for Lifelong Education with support from the Lottery Fund to strengthen the global capabilities of youth and bridge the educational gap.

This year, 106 youths selected through a competition rate of 3.3 to 1 will participate in a training program in Canada for about three weeks from July 19 to August 6.

During weekdays, they will participate in various educational programs centered around the campuses of the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University, including English classes, sports activities, practical English assignments, and team projects, while on weekends, they plan to extensively experience local culture through cultural tours and visits to local attractions.

Hong Seong-deok, Director of the Gyeonggi Provincial Lifelong Education Division, said, “I hope this serves as a valuable opportunity for youth to discover their own potential and grow to the next level in a new environment,” adding, “Above all, I hope they complete the training in good health with safety as their top priority and return with diverse experiences and learning.”
