[Korea Education Newspaper] The Ministry of Intellectual Property announced that it will hold the 'Intellectual Property Transaction Network (IP-LINK)' event on May 27 at 2:00 PM at the Hotel Naru Seoul M Gallery (Mapo-gu, Seoul), where key stakeholders participating in intellectual property (IP) transactions (demanders, suppliers, brokers, and investors of patented technology) will gather to exchange patented technology and information.

The 'Intellectual Property Transaction Network (IP-LINK)' is an event held since 2025 to revitalize the trading of intellectual property, such as patents. This time, the event will focus on patents in the fields of nano, bio, and environment. Approximately 200 people are expected to attend, including demand-side companies seeking necessary technologies, universities and public research institutes supplying them, intermediaries connecting the two sides (Intellectual Property Exchanges, private trading agencies), and investment institutions supporting the commercialization of traded technologies (Korea Materials, Parts & Equipment Investment Institutions Council, venture capital firms). This trading marketplace will introduce numerous excellent patented technologies likely to attract corporate interest, such as "compositions for the prevention or treatment of obesity" and "biomarkers for predicting diabetes complications."

At the venue, a consultation area where participants can exchange information on technology transactions and investments is operated alongside a presentation hall where best practices in patent technology transactions and successful cases of open innovation strategies are presented. Meanwhile, the second event (August) targeting the semiconductor and secondary battery sectors and the third event (November) targeting the nuclear and shipbuilding sectors are also scheduled to be held within the year.

Kim Il-gyu, Director General of the Intellectual Property Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Intellectual Property, stated, “In the series of processes extending from the transaction of patented technology to commercialization, the starting point is ultimately the establishment of a transaction network.” He added, “We will continue to expand transaction network events to increase opportunities for the excellent intellectual property of our universities and public research institutes to become a core growth engine for companies.”
