As the rapid advancement of generative AI shakes up the field of English education and the paradigm of content creation, an in-depth workshop is being held to enable immediate practical application.

The '2026 Joint Summer Workshop,' co-hosted by the Asia-Pacific Association of Language and Culture Education (APALCE) and the Korean Association of Secondary English Education (KASEE) and organized by the Corpus Research Institute of Incheon National University , will be held on Saturday, July 4 at 1:00 PM in Room 512 , Building 203, Chung-Ang University Seoul Campus .

From customized AI illustrations to video content development, 'compressed training'

Held under the theme of "English Education and Humanities Content Production in the Era of Generative AI," this workshop is designed for educators and researchers nationwide interested in textbook development, instructional material production, customized teaching and learning illustration composition, and video content development. Moving beyond theoretical discussions, the workshop will intensively cover practical skills that can be immediately applied in the educational field over a three-hour period.

The workshop is subdivided into a total of three specialized sessions and a special lecture on research ethics.

Session 1 (13:00–13:30) | Exploring the Relationship Between Learner-ChatGPT Interaction in Image Generation Activities and English Writing Development

Presentation: Professor Hwang Myung-hwan (Soonchunhyang University Hyangseol College of Sharing)

Content: Analyzes the characteristics of interaction between learners and ChatGPT and scientifically explores its impact on the development of actual English writing ability.

Session 2 (13:30–14:30) | AI-based Personalized Teaching and Learning Illustration Production Workshop

Presentation: Dr. Kim Tae-guk (Foreign Language Education Research Institute, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies)

Content: Learn the educational applications of AI image tools and conduct practical exercises on creating prompts and generating illustrations for actual classroom use.

Session 3 (14:30–15:50) | Video Content Production Workshop as Humanities Engineering

Presentation: Professor Choo Jae-wook (Department of English Language and Literature, Chung-Ang University)

Content: Introduces a transmedia creative project based on the English children's and young adult novel *Sea Wind*, and provides hands-on practice in content production using AI and video editing tools.

Research Ethics (15:50~16:00) | Latest Trends and Points to Note in Research Ethics

Presentation: Professor Chae-Kwan Jeong (Department of English Language and Literature, Incheon National University)

Content: This article examines the ethical trends and precautions that researchers must be aware of in the latest research environment where the use of AI has become frequent.

Field-oriented AI utilization, expected to close early due to limited seating.

An organizer stated, “Recently, generative AI has been driving changes in various fields, such as utilizing images when writing textbooks or producing book introduction videos on YouTube after publication,” adding, “This workshop will be the best opportunity for teachers and researchers in the field to gain practical insights, ranging from creating customized teaching and learning illustrations to developing literature-based video content.”
