Yeon-sung Elementary School Participated Eco-Cultural Festival for Environment Day

On June 12 (Thursday), a large-scale eco-cultural event was held to celebrate Environment Day, jointly organized by the Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education, Incheon Environmental Corporation, and the Incheon Science and Culture Base Center. The festival brought together approximately 1,000 participants, including students, faculty, citizens, and environmental organizations.

The event featured a variety of programs such as a children’s painting contest, performances, environmental education booths, and environmental-themed speeches. Students from a design high school played a key role in planning the program, focusing on fostering a citizen- and student-led ecological culture.

One of the most notable programs was the "New Use" (upcycling) fashion show, which drew significant attention. Elementary school students and senior citizen models participated in this collaborative show, which was directed by Professor Ahn Si-hyun, who teaches senior modeling at the Kyungin University Lifelong Education Center. The eco-friendly outfits, full of creative ideas, promoted a sustainable lifestyle and conveyed the message of “wise clothing choices” to the audience.

Chung Hyun-joo, principal of Yeonseong Elementary School, remarked, “We are delighted to support our students in showcasing their talents and contributing to the community through such a meaningful event.” She added, “This fashion show aimed to promote sustainability in daily life among students, staff, and citizens, and we will continue to take part in Incheon’s cultural development through ongoing participation.”

Parents and students who took part in the event said, “It was meaningful to see the children’s talents displayed in such an inspiring setting.”
Meanwhile, event officials expressed their hopes by saying, “We hope that this culture of environmental action will continue to spread widely.”
